Thinking about doing a winter wedding in Vermont? *Cue White Christmas
Keep in mind that your wedding is taking place in the winter. Keep the guest experience in mind with temperature, weather, as well as your experience. Standing outside for 30 minutes in 20F weather can be brutal, no matter if it's your day or not. When finding a venue (after setting your budget), keep in mind all parts of your wedding day (ceremony, cocktail, and reception). Ideally, you want to have 3 separate spaces or at least three transitions. Other things you will want to think about: getting ready, enough rooms for guests so everyone can stay together especially if there is a storm, bathrooms, accessibility for older guests, bars, staffing, and so much more.
Here are just a few of some of our favorite places to choose if you want to have a winter wedding in VT.
Stowe
Stowe is the ultimate Vermont getaway. Hit the mountain at Stowe Mountain Resort which also has lots of other things to do at their adventure center and Spruce Peak Village. Don't forget to explore the town of Stowe as well.

Topnotch Resort- 50-80 guests (120 if holding ceremony offsite)

Wilmington
The Wilmington area is great any time of year, but there is something about a quaint winter wonderland like this one.
Whether it be to snow ski or board at Mount Snow or to enjoy a cozy weekend in, you will find that and more in this area of Southern Vermont.
Venue: The Hermitage Inn or The White House Inn (some say this Inn is haunted)
Where to Eat: The Tavern at the Hermitage Inn (make reservations to eat in one of the heated gondolas outside or try a wine tasting in their wine cellar), The Village Roost, Green Mountain Squeeze, and Valley Craft Ales for the secret pizza pies
Where to Drink: Valley Craft Ales or the Vermont Distillery (Tasting Room at Hogmarket Country Store)
Bakeries: Starfire Bakery for anything (everything is so good!!!) or Sticky Fingers Bakery for the Cinnamon buns
Places to Check Out: 1836 Country Store and The Fashion Plate
Some are lucky to get invited to snow ski at the Hermitage Club which is a private mountain with amazing views.
Other Venues to Consider:
Mountaintop Resort: 60-150 guests (would recommend ceremony offsite)
Twin Farms - This is the perfect getaway, and place to elope or have an intimate wedding of 8 guests.
