Most of us have heard that we are the average of the five people we surround ourselves with. Have you thought about how the music you listen to, the TV shows you watch, or the books you read affect you? You are either absorbing beneficial or destructive things. So, what are you absorbing?
I personally have had a very hard time with this, especially the music part. We can’t change what is played in night clubs/bars, but we can change where we go, what we listen to in the car, etc. I started listening to more positive music, reading books that help me learn/grow, and stopped watching TV (for the most part).
The hardest part is to start.
Here are some songs/books/TV shows that are more beneficial for your mind:
Music: Make a “Live Happy” playlist on Spotify. It can include songs like Tori Kelly’s song Unbreakable Smile, Rachel Platten (Fight Song), Rita Ora (Grateful), Britt Nicole songs, Colbie Caillat (most songs on her Gypsy Heart album)
Books: Any and all personal development books. You can also listen to self help books on Audible.
TV: Shark Tank, hate to say it but most TV is not great for your mind….sorry (you will thank me later)
Find things that stimulate your imagination. We all have one. Some are used more than others. Start feeding your brain with the things you want in life, and your energy and presence will reflect that. Also, if your 5 closest people are not helping you grow, it’s time to rethink who you spend your time with. Surround yourself with the people you want to become and learn from. You will be amazed at what happens.
